In our small garden pond a variety of birds stop in for a bath. This morning
it was a Robin splashing all about. As it stood on the rock in the morning
sun, preening and drying, it suddenly took off in a panic and a split second
later a blur of motion came from behind the arbor and off in the same
direction. Later the robin feathers indicate that the accipter (moving too
fast and too close to ID) got a clean lunch this morning. A bit later my
wife saw a Coopers Hawk at the edge of a puddle on the road having a drink.
She drove right up to, and thought perhaps it was injured. It flew away
slowly....Maybe it was just full.
