Hi tweets,
Carolyn Egan, Phyllis Stark, Mary Anne Thorbeck and I set out on a trek to
find as many birds as we could in a day to raise money for Seattle Audubon,
challenge ourselves and uphold the honor of our Millenium Master Birder
class. We think we did well in all categories, at least in the first two.
We started off just after dawn at the Montlake Fill, headed for Marymoor
Park, stopped by Snoqualmie Pass and the rest was downhill except for that
steep climb north along the Columbia east of Vantage. We ended up at the
County Line Ponds near Othello at 8:30 pm with 120 species on our list.
Best birds were Pectoral Sandpipers at the fill, a Townsend's warbler at
Stampede Pass, Wilson's Snipe near Ellensburg, Long-billed Curlews along
I-90 and the five new species at Para Ponds that lifted us to 120. But
really, we loved every bird and if we had found more we would have loved
them, too. If you have any questions about specific species or places
please contact me.

Good birding, Alan Roedell 206-522-0809 roedell at speakeasy.net
