Dear Tweeters,

Just when the little pond east of Lyman seemed to be
drying up (both figuratively and literally), another
good bird shows up. There was an American Bittern
standing at the north end of the pond this morning.
Then it flew closer to the Lyman-Hamilton Road, giving
a great look. I will try to listen for it this evening
from my house, to tick it as a yard bird!

This is the same pond that had the Solitary
Sandpipers; it is between Healy and Hamilton Cemetery
Roads, and is on the north side of the Lyman-Hamilton
Road (Skagit County).

As far as I recall, this was the only time I have ever
seen or heard a Bittern east of Sedro-Woolley.

=====

Yours truly,

Gary Bletsch
