Tweets,
We "downsized" in mid-Nov., moving from our beloved Wallingford (admittedly, the House Sparrow capital of Seattle) to a north facing townhouse at the edge of a wetland bordering Bothell Landing Park on the Sammamish River. We have been amazed at the variety of bird life, including the hoped-for Pine Siskins, Song Sparrows, Spotted Towhees, and Gold Finches. This week we have two pairs of Black-headed Grosbeaks, and the place has been thick with Common Yellowthroats for a few weeks now. But yesterday (Sun. a.m.) our socks were knocked clean off when a Lazuli Bunting appeared below our feeder and hung around for the better part of the a.m. It did all those L.B. things like sit on a stick and sing, then fly over to shrubbery before coming back below the feeder. We would have called birding pals, but we had a date with YoYo Ma at the symphony, so had to abandon the little beauty. To cap the day off, there was a Spotted Sandpiper strutting its stuff right near the trail at our dock. I wonder if either of these guys will stay for a while--haven't seen either them this a.m., but yesterday was a thrill!!
