Spent a delightful hour at Sikes Lake today. Saw two Virginia Rails
preening. A beautiful Sora walked out into an open space for a good,
long look in the scope. The highlight was an American Bittern
displaying the gorgeous white shoulder patches while responding to
another bird across the lake. All three species were calling
intermittently.
