Hola Tweeters,

Well my wife LaNae and I have been carefully watching our little nest of fresh House Finch hatchlings, squeeking and swaying in a hanging planter on our porch. Yesterday evening Nae got home from work before me and the nest had been pulled out of the planter, overturned and all signs of babies were long gone.

We have some very large crows that live out in the Cedars in front of the house, and an owl who screeches at us at night, and soars in and out of the trees. And there are the ever present Starlings who pass through as well. Don't know who the culprit was, circle of life and all that of course. But most of the Finches who have been feeding at our porch have not come back. We had about twelve couples, including House Finches and brilliant yellow ones as well. We have only seen a couple since that morning. So we are grieving in our way, and feeling very put upon by the attack.

Also have a couple of Brewer Blackbird couples eating at the feeders, and a couple of lovely Towhees. Saw a red winged Black Bird as well today....lots of interesting songs and sights.
that's the news from Kent tonight
cheers
Mike and Nae
