Subject: request ID help for feeder-watcher on Whidbey

Dear Tweeters,

A lady who lives by the seaplane base at Whidbey
Island Naval Air Station phoned me the other day about
a bird. She said it was very much like a Red-winged
Blackbird, only with a brilliant fluorescent orange
wingpatch. She insisted that she knew the RWBL well,
and that the stunning bird at her feeder was
different, although about the same size. She knew that
RWBL have a red patch with a yellow-orange border; her
bird just had this impressive iridescent orange wing
patch. Unfortunately, her husband is overseas with the
digital camera.

If there are any Tweeters out there who might be able
to go there to ID it for her, please contact me via
e-mail and I will give you her phone number. She said
she would obtain for the birder whatever permissions
are needed to enter the military base...which is, I
understand, a very birdy place, and a desirable
destination for Harrier fans, with or without
brilliant orange feeder birds thrown in.

=====

Yours truly,
