Subject: Ocean Shores birding

I headed to Ocean Shores this morning to hopefully pickup some new year
birds for me today. It was a bit windy with a few showers, but overall the
weather was pretty good. I didn't time the tide right, but I still managed
to find a few shorebirds around. Here's the main highlights:

Ocean Shores Jetty:

Common Loon
Wandering Tattler (only found one)
Bonaparte's Gull (two at the end of jetty)
Common Tern (large flock over the channel)

Game Range:

Greater White-fronted Goose (about 15 behind the Snowy Plover nesting area)
Harlequin Duck (3 were feeding along the jetty)
Spotted Sandpiper
Whimbrel
Sanderling
Western Sandpiper
Dunlin

Also, at the marina I flushed two Green Herons from under the boardwalk. At
the Tonquin Ave. bridge, there were four Blue-winged Teal in the water
below. I was amazed at how busy the town got at around noon so I headed for
home.
