The Bob Heirman Wildlife Park in Snohomish County is a treasure trove for
wildlife. Saturday afternoon I traveled part of Shadow Lake by boat to pick
up some equipment left from the winter swan work. I observed at least 5
pairs of cinammon teal, several mallard pairs with young, a group of 15
Canada geese flew in, a very focused feeding Great Blue, an adult bald eagle
testing the broods of ducklings, red tailed hawk doing the same, two deer,
violet green and tree swallows, barn swallow, red-winged black birds,
robins, song sparrows, woodpeckers drumming on trees up in the woods and
more little birds I could not actually focus on because I was in a boat
doing other things. .
Also, does anyone know how the waterlily leaves get severed about 1
inch or so below the leaf. It is a clean break, no tooth marks. There were
areas where it was very abundant, and areas where it was uncommon to see the
leaves floating free.
