I would put in a vote for the Leica Ultra 8X32's. I have had them for years
and they have never let me down. They have great ergonomics, are built like
a tank, and have wide field of view. Pay attention to the field of view with
your choice. In the rain forest, birds are flitting around through the trees
at speed, you want a wide field of view so you don't loose them as you bring
the binocs up to your eyes.
I would echo the suggestion to visit Anacortes Telescope. I bought my last
pair of binocs from them, and they had a great selection, good prices, and
were very acccomodating in allowing me time to make my purchase.
