Mike,

The Umtanum Creek trail in the Yakima Canyon (SR 823) is a great place to see chats; it's the closest place I know of to Seattle that is thick with them! It's also a good spot for Lazuli Bunting, Canyon Wrens, Lewis' Woodpeckers and Prairie Falcons; keep your eyes (and ears!) open for Western Rattlesnakes as well.
