Pat & Tweets:

I had exactly the same kind of birding day at home last Thursday, and ended
up having my second best "most-species-seen-or-heard-without-even-trying" day,
a total of 23 seen, plus 3 more heard. The latter included Robins, Osprey and
a Piliated Woodpecker that is the bane of my birding existence, hiding while
continually announcing his presence. The "seen" list included the following:

Hooded Merganser
Wood Duck
Gadwall
Bald Eagle
Spotted Sandpiper
Canada Goose
American Goldfinch
House Finch
Rufus Hummingbird
Mallard
Northern Flicker
Spotted Towhee
European Starling
Song Sparrow
Red-breasted Nuthatch
Cedar Waxwings
NW Crow
Tree Swallow
Barn Swallow
Chestnut-sided Chickadee
Red-winged Blackbird
Great Blue Heron
Stellar's Jay

I wonder how many I might have seen if I had tried. Probably not as many. :)
