Dear Tweeters,

Today at Ross Lake Resort (Whatcom County) I saw some
nice birds. This was on the trail that heads up behind
Ross Lake Resort. Here they are, INPO (in no
particular order):

Cassin's Vireo (seen singing "Richard, come here!"
just two hundred meters up the trail from the resort);

Warbling Vireo (heard singing, but would not show
itself even after thirty minutes of opportunity so to
do);

Impossonax Flycatcher (certainly Dusky, except that
they also could have been Hammond's);

Audubon's Warbler (lots of them)

Townsend's Warbler (even more of these);

Western Tanager (only one, called a few times and flew
off);

Chipping Sparrow (hopping around the lakeshore behind
the cabins of the resort);

American Robin (flitting off into the woods like some
rare forest thrush).

I also heard an unidentified call, very raptor-like. I
never saw the bird. I think it was a bird and not a
mammal. It was a sharp, short, repeated series of
identical, high-pitched whistles, such as one might
expect from a small raptor.
