A GREEN HERON was in Marsh Unit 1 of the Columbia NWR in Grant Co WA on 25
Oct according to Randy Hill.
Several reports of PACIFIC LOONS.
In Idaho, a PACIFIC LOON and 4 SURF SCOTERS were on the Clearwater River
near the Lewiston, Nez Perce Co ID grain terminals on 25 Oct, according to
Kas Dumroese. The bird was viewed from the levee accessed from the US 12
bypass. ID DeLorme 52, A-1.
In Washington: Two PACIFIC LOONS were on Silver Lake, Spokane Co WA on 28
and 30 Oct according to Jim Acton and Gina Sheridan. Silver Lake is east of
the town of Medical Lake, north of I-90. WA DeLorme 88, D-3.
Also on 28 Oct, a PACIFIC LOON was observed on the Columbia River from Walla
Walla Point Park in Wenatchee, Chelan Co WA according to Dave Beaudette.
Also there was a first year GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL.
On the Washington-Oregon border: Two PACIFIC LOONS were observed on the
Columbia River below McNary Dam near Umatilla, Umatilla Co OR on 30 Oct by
Mike and MerryLynn Denny and again on 2 Nov by Craig Corder. WA DeLorme 29,

Up to 6 SURF SCOTERS were on West Medical Lake, Spokane Co WA on 28 Oct
according to Jim Acton. On 2 Nov Michael Woodruff reports 5 were still
present. West Medical Lake is west of the town of Medical Lake. WA DeLorme

Two SURF SCOTERS and a DUNLIN were at Mann Lake, east of Lewiston, Nez Perce
Co ID on 30 Oct according to Terry Gray. To get to Mann Lake from the north
end of Lewiston, take US 12 across the Clearwater River. At the traffic
light, turn left and go up the 21st Street hill. It will turn into Thain. A
block past where Thain goes from 4 lanes to 2, turn left onto Powers Avenue
and follow Powers a few miles to the grain towers and the reservoir. ID

Three CATTLE EGRETS were near McNary Pool, McNary NWR in northwestern Walla
Walla Co WA on 28 Oct according to Mike and MerryLynn Denny. The pool is
along US 12 near milepost 300. WA DeLorme 40, C-1.
A first winter MEW GULL, first seen 19 Oct at Walla Walla Point Park in
Wenatchee, Chelan Co WA by Dave Beaudette, was seen again on 26 Oct by Dave.
Walla Walla Point Park is just south of Confluence State Park. WA DeLorme

BLUE JAY sightings. One bird each unless noted. New for this week unless
noted. Four birds, Silver Lake, Spokane Co WA, Gee Sutherlin. NW Moscow,
Latah Co ID, 28 Oct, Kas Dumroese. Five near Lena Whitmore School, Moscow,
Janet Williams. Erie and Maple Streets, Cheney, Spokane Co WA, Matthew
Moskwik. Four in Lewiston, Nez Perce Co ID 29 Oct, Bob Schmidt. Silver Lake,
Spokane Co WA, Gina Sheridan (one of Gee's birds?). Maple and Garfield
streets, Spokane, WA, 30 Oct, Garrett MacDonald. Washtucna, Adams Co WA 29
Oct, secondhand via Randy Hill. Three, Pioneer Hill, Pullman, Whitman Co WA,
23 Oct, John Jones (up to 2 had been reported previously).
