Tweets,
Thanks to all of you who responded about the squirrel
issue. Gives me something to consider, anyway.

Do the E. Fox Squirrels get out of the Urban areas in
Washington? I remember that in Montana the ONLY place
I ever saw them was in town, where the natural
predators could not wipe them out. Are they spreading
into natural areas here in WA, or out of Urban areas?

I've only seen one Douglas squirrel in my yard in 6
years. I saw him around for about a week, and every
time I saw him he looked a little more bedraggled.
Too many E. Fox squirrels and dogs in my neighborhood,
I would guess. And everyone says they are getting
more scarce. Those of you who see them in your yards
should be glad that they are around.

Sounds like any "alteration" of their population will
be purely temporary and local. Sigh. Another human
caused problem that has no long-term or easy solution.

Oh well. I like tilting at windmills (I voted for
Kerry, didn't I ;). I think I will set out my live
traps and see what can be done. With my live traps I
can be sure to release that Douglas sqiurrel if he
shows up again ;)

PPS. Please address any grievances and/or flames
about the squirel issue to me and not Tweeters. I
hate to get the list involved in this (usually)
contentious issue. Thanks!
