Subject: [Tweeters] E. Fox Squirrels in Idaho part of the Palouse

Hi All -

I was interested to read the comments by Kelly and Mike on the spread of E.
Fox Squirrels in eastern WA. As far as I know this is not happening in the
Idaho portion of the Palouse and elsewhere in north-central Idaho away from
towns. But I will now be on the lookout to verify this. For certain they are
not in the dense conifer forests of the nearby Clearwater and HooDoo Ranges.

I wonder if expansion in the Blues and other parts of eastern WA is
happening in conjunction w/ sprawl into these areas. For example the Touchet
River up into the Blues from Dayton is under development pressure. This
would give Fox Squirrels and other non-native cooridors into less hospitable
habitat. Ironically back in my native Maryland, one species of Fox Squirrel,
the Delmarva Fox Squirrel is critically endangered.

thanks, Charles.
