Subject: [Tweeters] Trumpeter Swan in Yakima -- a warning

Hi Tweeters,

The Yakima Greenway and Buchanan Lake between Sarg Hubbard and Sherman
Parks is a nice place to bird, especially during the winter when the lake
isn't frozen. It is written up in the "Birder's Guide to Washington" on
pages 314 and 315.

There is a Trumpeter Swan on Buchanan Lake that is one of three purchased
by the owner of the lake two years ago. It can't fly. The other two
disappeared in the past six months or so.

For those of you who stop to bird the area, or who are zipping by on I-82,
this Trumpeter Swan shouldn't be counted. We have hopes, though, that it
will attract wild swans who happen to be flying over. So if you see more
than one swan, count away.
