We walked the circuit at Discovery Park today and it was well worth the trip.

Most of the birds were down at the beach. At upper bluff level we saw AMERICAN ROBIN, flocks of HOUSE FINCH, AMERICAN CROW, BUSHTIT, BLACK EYED JUNCOS, RED SHAFTED FLICKERS, BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEE, SONG SPARROW, SPOTTED TOHEE. The woods were beautiful. We also saw a black and brown rabbit.

On the beach by the light house we saw a ROCK WREN, (a life bird for me) and just around the bend headed toward Shilshoe it happened. There were hundreds and hundreds of Grebe. WESTERN GREBE, HORNED GREBE, RED NECKED GREBE, and PIED BILLED GREBE. They were mixing with BUFFLEHEAD, BLACK SCOTER, BARROWS GOLDENEYE (beautiful) and HOODED MERGANZER. Continuing up the path is a long marsh area filled with hundreds of AMERICAN WIDGEON, MALLARD and BUFFLEHEAD. This is quite a sight. It was a very large raft of birds.
