Subject: [Tweeters] Lewis's Woodpecker in Grays Harbor County

Rose Dubois found 1 or 2 Lewis's Woodpeckers on South Bank Road in Lewis County earlier this past week. I tried for them today and immediately had one fly over the road at the proper spot. It was gathering Acorns off the ground, and there are many, and flying up to a telephone pole where it is trying to store them.

To get there drive south from Elma on Hwy 12 to Porter. Turn south onto Porter Creek Road and cross the river. The first county road to you left will be South Bank Road. Turn onto South Bank Road and go 0.6 mile. If you see a farm fresh egg sign you have gone 1 telephone pole too far. There are lots of Western Scrub-Jays and Steller's Jays in the area.

Lewis's Woodpeckers are listed as a code "5" for Grays Harbor County which means there are less than 5 records reported from that county.
