Two PACIFIC LOONS were on Silver Lake, Spokane Co WA on 28 and 30 Oct and 3
Nov, according to Jim Acton, Gina Sheridan, and Michael Woodruff,
respectively. Silver Lake is east of the town of Medical Lake, north of
I-90. WA DeLorme 88, D-3.

Twelve PACIFIC LOONS were observed on the Columbia River below McNary Dam
near Umatilla, Umatilla Co OR on 7 Nov by Mike and MerryLynn Denny. Also
below the dam was a sub-adult THAYER'S GULL, 3 GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROWS, and
2 SWAMP SPARROWS. Check either WA DeLorme 29, A-6 or OR DeLorme 85, A-7.

A LONG-TAILED DUCK was seen at the Walla Walla River delta is western Walla
Walla Co WA on 5 Nov by Mike and MerryLynn Denny. The delta is just north of
the jct of US 12 and US 730 in western Walla Walla Co. Park across from the
entrance to Madame Dorian park and hike down to the delta. WA DeLorme 40,
D-1.

Another LONG-TAILED DUCK, a winter-plumaged adult female, was seen 5 Nov by
Dave Beaudette on the Columbia River at Chelan Falls Park, Chelan Co WA.
Also there was a PACIFIC LOON. Just north of the park on the gravel bars
were 6 GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULLS.

A PACIFIC LOON and a first winter THAYER'S GULL were on Potholes Reservoir
in Grant Co WA on 7 Nov according to Doug Schonewald. The birds were at the
Blythe WDFW boat launch between Mar Don Resort and Potholes State Park.

A GREAT EGRET and a DUNLIN were at Mann Lake, east of Lewiston, Nez Perce Co
ID on 6 Nov according to Terry Gray. To get to Mann Lake from the north end
of Lewiston, take US 12 across the Clearwater River. At the traffic light,
turn left and go up the 21st Street hill. It will turn into Thain. A block
past where Thain goes from 4 lanes to 2, turn left onto Powers Avenue and
follow Powers a few miles to the grain towers and the reservoir. Also in
Lewiston on 6 Nov was a single CATTLE EGRET according to Terry. The bird was
in the median along US 95/US 12 three miles east of Lewiston, near the
Caterpillar equipment dealer. ID DeLorme 54, A-1.

A flock of 13 CATTLE EGRETS were seen today, 8 Nov, by Mike and MerryLynn
Denny in Walla Walla Co WA. To find them, take US 12 to Lowden, about 12
miles west of Walla Walla. Just west of Lowden, go south on Lowden-Gardena
Road to Frog Hollow Road. Turn west on Frog Hollow and go to the jct with
Barney Road. WA DeLorme 40, D-3 near the bottom of the page.

Dennis Rockwell reports COMMON REDPOLLS feeding on alder trees in Two Rivers
Co Park, Benton Co WA on 4 Nov. The park is east of Kennewick along the
Columbia River. From WA 397 head east on Finley Road 1.5 miles to the
parking area. WA DeLorme 39, C-8.

BLUE JAY sightings. One bird each unless noted. New for this week unless
noted. Three, Erie and Oak streets, Cheney, Spokane Co WA, Matthew Moskwik
(up from 1 last week). Four, Pioneer Hill, Pullman, Whitman Co WA, Tom Weber
(up to 3 had been reported previously). Two, NW Spokane, Spokane Co WA near
Westview Elementary School for past 5 weeks, Lisa Hill & Larry Umthun.
Grosscup and 60th streets, West Richland, Benton Co WA, 7 Nov, Bill and
Nancy LaFramboise.
