Tweets - Nine of us met on what was actually a pretty nice morning
yesterday. The fog was all above us, leaving Marymoor clear and windless.
Unfortunately, it was also VERY quiet. The total number of birds detected
had to be close to an all-time low, though there were a few notables, and
our species count wasn't too bad by the end. The three of us still around
for the trip to the Rowing Club, however, had some great birding featuring
actual flocks of birds!

Highlights:

Common Loon 1 well out on lake
Horned Grebe 1-2, indistinct, well out on lake
TRUMPETER SWAN 2 flying overhead, and later one flying and calling
SNOW GOOSE 1 with Canadas on grass fields
Common Goldeneye Flock of about 9 flying out from lake
Common Merganser 3 flying towards lake
Cooper's Hawk Several great sightings, at least 2 birds
Western Meadowlark 3 in Dog Area, East Meadow

Passerines were few and far between, but we did have a BROWN CREEPER near
the mansion and a LINCOLN'S SPARROW at the compost piles.

The Rowing Club featured about 25 species in the half-hour we were there,
including:

Green Heron 1 in the south pond
Bushtit Maybe 10 in with 60-80 PINE SISKIN
Northern Flicker 3 - only ones of the day
Yellow-rumped Warbler Myrtles, perhaps 4-5
Purple Finch Male, 3 females

I also had 4 CANVASBACK in the lake, late. Matt had an AMERICAN KESTREL or
a MERLIN early in the morning.

For the day, we managed 55 species.
