Hello Mike and Tweets,

Being a compiler of three counts up here on Vancouver Island, I'm curious
as to how you, and for that matter anyone else, will be tackling the
"Cackling Goose" issue this season. In past years, when we were only
encouraged to count Canada Geese as "large" or "small", it wasn't really an
issue. But I'm wondering how the taverneri/parvipes conundrum is supposed to
work itself out. There are plenty of references out there helping us to
separate minima from everything else, but nobody seems to want to tackle
taverneri/parvipes, which just happen to fall into two different species.
I'm asking this in the context of CBC recording, but even outside of that,
what are others doing when they encounter these birds right now?
Many thanks,
Guy L. Monty
