While Matt was on shore in Discovery Park looking for alcids, I was in a
research boat at West Point and other areas south of Maury Island. I didn't
see much avian diversity either, but had to work in very bumpy seas and 20
knot winds. It was so bumpy I only briefly even removed my binos from the
case. Later in the day the seas calmed down a bit and we saw three Dall's
porpoises off the park. I wish I could have been windsurfing off West Point
rather than working...
