Tweets - Seven of us investigate the local fog bank known as Marymoor Park
this morning. The fog actually cleared just after we visited the lake
lookout, revealing an absolutely gorgeous day. We had plenty of birds in
the fog, though not that long a species list. Once we were out of the fog,
we picked up some pretty interesting birds. Over all, it was a fine day.
Highlights:

Canvasback 2 (or more?) well out on lake
Sharp-shinned Hawk Several sightings, both sexes based on size
Cooper's Hawk One seen from the boardwalk
Wilson's Snipe 2 at main Rowing Club pond
Western Gull 1 pretty pure at NE corner parking lot
Virginia Rail 2 responded to clapping from lake platform
Brown Creeper 1 SW of concert stage
AMERICAN PIPIT 1 at north end of East Meadow. Late for Marymoor!
Savannah Sparrow Rather late sighting, first in several weeks
Fox Sparrow 12+, incl. at least 8 in one place - all Sooty
Wh.-throated Sparrow 1 SW of concert stage
Lincoln's Sparrow 2-4 brief pop-ups at compost piles & pea patch
"Slate-colored" Junco First Slaty of the winter for us.
Western Meadowlark 1 at north end of Dog Meadow
Purple Finch 2 at the Rowing Club

We ended up with 8 duck species, 5 gull species, and NINE sparrow species
(Savannah, Song, Fox, Lincoln's, White-throated, White-crowned,
Golden-crowned Sparrows, Spotted Towhee, and Dark-eyed Junco)

At the NE corner of the lake, and probably not countable for the Marymoor
list, we also had a COMMON LOON and 2 WESTERN GREBE.

For the day, 54 species. Lou Ann Harris had an adult NORTHERN SHRIKE and
some PINE SISKIN last Sunday, for a week total of 56.
