Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good! This morning, at Fay Bainbridge
State Park, I just by chance glanced with my binoculars at a small flock of
Pine Siskins and ended up staring at a female Common Redpoll with her bright
red cap. I got about a 10 second look before trying to get a closer look in
my scope. Funny thing, I was not able find it again. The redpoll was in a
small flock of about 20 Pine Siskins that then seemed to join-in with a
larger flock of about 200 birds. The birds remained in the general area for
about another 20 minutes, but I never could re-find the redpoll.

So I guess it is worth checking those siskin flocks!
