Hi Tweets,
Yesterday we had a male bald eagle in our yard. I have seen them flying over occasionally but this is a first that we have seen in our yard. He was perched in an alder tree for about 20 minutes until I walked outside to get a photo. He was gone as soon as he saw me. Pretty impressive bird. I am wondering what attracted him here? Do you think it is the 98 individuals (approx) that we had when I did the Project Feederwatch?

Yes, in my experience Bald Eagles sightings in this area are very common. I love that drive this time of the year because the absence of foliage allows a clear view to perching raptors.

The west side of Pine Lake is just up the hill from East Lake Sammamish, on 212th. We often see Bald Eagles around here, though far less this year than in past years. Today, in fact, two gulls got into a bit of a tussle with one, and forced him into the water where he floated for about 10 minutes. Neighbors were concerned the Eagle might become waterlogged, but he eventually flew up and away.

Another interesting thing, for the past two days we've had an Opsrey on the lake, perching and fishing. Guess he's decided to stick around for a while longer.
