On Sunday Nov. 21, my wife and I did a little birding up the
Columbia Gorge after breakfast at the Skamania Lodge. The 3 GREATER
WHITE-FRONTED GEESE, were still at Rock Creek Park in Stevenson.
At Drano Lake (the mouth of the little White Salmon River) we saw
22 BARROW'S GOLDENEYE, 8 COMMON GOLDENEYE, 10 HOODED MERGANSERS, one
COMMON LOON and 4 BALD EAGLES.
A visit to the Spring Creek Fish Hatchery produced 1 RED-NECKED
GREBE, a male EURASIAN WIGEON, 1 SPOTTED SANDPIPER, a MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE
in a mixed flock of BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEES, RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES,
BEWICK'S WREN, GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS, RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS, VARIED
THRUSH, and YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS.
