At high tide today c. 12:15 to 12:45 pm I briefly visited a few spots on the
waterfront. At the tiny Alki Beach and Cormorant Parks I found 2 Bufflehead,
3 Harlequin Ducks, 2 Red-breasted Mergansers, an unusual Pelagic Cormorant
with four Double-crested Cormorants, plus the local crows, starlings, and
Rock Pigeons. Off Alki Blvd were 2 Horned Grebes, 2 Western Grebes, 2 Surf
Scoters, 5 Bufflehead. At Duwamish Head there were two large groups of
Surfbirds, totaling about 100 birds ( more than I've ever seen here at once)
plus some 20 Black Turnstones. Offshore were four Red-necked Grebes and the
usual cormorants.
