Some really unique winter birds are arriving so keep the reports coming.

Blue Jays are having an invasion year throughout Montana, Idaho and
Washington this year. They seem to have arrived in the Tri-Cities
now. Brewster Strope reported a BLUE JAY in his Kennewick neighborhood
near Layton Park on November 6. It was at his feeder on that day only. A
BLUE JAY was also reported in West Richland on November 6 near Grosscup and
60th Streets. Please do not play tapes in this neighborhood. Nancy
Martinez also reported a BLUE JAY in Prosser on November 13.

On November 7, Bob and Pat Woodley visited Two Rivers County Park in
Kennewick and among other birds found a MERLIN, a FOX SPARROW and 3 GREATER
WHITE-FRONTED GEESE. Several PINE SISKIN were still present.

On November 13, Bill and Nancy LaFramboise found a BLACK-THROATED GREEN
WARBLER in Bassett Park in Washtucna in a mixed flock of juncos and
Mountain Chickadees. A few Red-breasted Nuthatches, Ruby-crowned Kinglets
and Red Crossbills were also present in the park. It remained an
additional day. There was also a NORTHERN GOSHAWK and GRAY-CROWNED
ROSY-FINCHES at Windust Park on the Snake River.

On November 17, Laurie Ness reported a TUNDRA SWAN in the pond at the
Columbia Point Golf Course seen from George Washington Way in Richland.

Also on November 17, Nancy LaFramboise located a PINE GROSBEAK on Sherman
Street in North Richland. Sherman runs between Alexander and Davison Streets.

On November 19, Bill and Nancy LaFramboise found 2 MOUNTAIN CHICKADEES and
10 PINE SISKIN on Enterprise Street off Snyder Street in North
Richland. They also located a large Cedar Waxwing flock with 1 BOHEMIAN
WAXWING among them at WSU Tri-Cities.

Columbia Park in Kennewick hosted 13 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE on the
lawn near the roundabout on November 20 reported by Laurie Ness.

Craig Swanson observed a SNOWY OWL at the highway intersection at Road 68
in Pasco on November 20. A sighting at this time of year may mean more to
come.

To report your own sightings, please give your name, phone number, date,
and sightings after the tone. Thank you.
