Yesterday I posted to Tweeters a sighting of a Snowy Owl at Big Ditch in
Snohomish County.

Here are directions to Big Ditch, partially plagiarized from page 189 of A
Birder's Guide to Washington. (This fabulous book would make a great
Christmas gift!!)

>From SR532 on the west side of Stanwood turn north on 102nd Ave NW.

In 2.4 miles just before crossing the RR tracks, turn left (west) onto a
long, straight, dirt road. Park in the lot and walk along the dike going
right (north). (WDFW sticker is required.)

Your odds for success may be increased by scoping the driftwood early and
frequently, since sometimes the owls at this location can be viewed only
from one angle. I spotted the bird yesterday from a distance, but could
not find it again until I had walked much further. Vegetation and
driftwood hide the owls.
