Subject: [Tweeters] Calpine to build LNG plant on King Av site

Those of you who've been following the news lately may have
heard about the controversy of an LNG facility the Port of
Astoria has chosen to lease property for in Warrenton. What
you may not be aware of is that the site is King Ave.

The primary affect this will have on birding and birds relates
to increased homeland security restrictions in Warrenton that
will restrict access to large chunks of the Skipanon. Direct
safety concerns aside, the rules and regulations attached to
safety zones around what the homeland security folks term "a moving
terrorist target" will impact tourism, fishing, other commercial
shipping traffic and just about everything else on both sides of
the Columbia, when LGN carrier ships are unloading.

Calpine adjusted their stategy and secured a lease before holding
official public hearing after being run out of town by folks
in Eureka...
