Yes, I also have hand fed birds early in the morning on cold days. In
addition to chickadees I've hand fed red-breasted nuthatches, pine siskins
and dark eyed juncos. One summer day as a joke my kids covered me with bird
seed as I lay asleep in the hammock. I awoke to a gentle tugging sensation
on my shirt and I had several birds perching on me, happily using me as a
bird feeder. I was informed it was quite funny, I was less than amused and
never did get a stain from a dropping out of that shirt.

Subject: [Tweeters] a Mtn Chickadee "first": hand feeding

Tweets,

Thought this was worth passing along, a possible "first" for western
Washington. A lady near Tenino has not only had a Mtn Chickadee coming to
her feeder (starting about a week-and-a-half ago), she had it feeding from
her hand three times last week. She's also had Black-capped,
Chestnut-backed, Red-br Nuthatch, and Townsend's Warblers (3x) feeding from
her hands through the years, plus Gray & Steller's Jays in other locations.
The best time, she says, in early on cold mornings.

Good birding!
