For those in need of a 'wild' parakeet fix and in need of directions to
their nest here are directions.
The birds appear to match Sibley's and N. Geographics descriptions of Monk
Parakeets quite well. Also the 'nest ball' is typical for Monks.

>From Southworth Ferry area or any place from the south: Take Sedgewick
(either from Hwy 16 or the Southworth ferry dock) to Bethel Road. Turn
north on Bethel from Sedgewick. Go north through the intersection of Lund
Ave (Puerto Vallerta restaurant on NW corner). About a quarter mile north
turn right on Mitchell Rd (Y intersection) and head north. In just less
than a mile you'll see a cell tower near where SE Mile Hill Rd goes under
Mitchell Rd. The tower is on the east side of the road and there is parking
across the street.

>From the west or Bremerton: Take Hwy 166 (SW Bay St.) from Hwy 16 (follow
directions for downtown Port Orchard) Take Bay St. through downtown Port
Orcard to just past Bay Ford where there is a traffic light by the Kentucky
Fried Chicken. Turn left onto Bay St. N. at the light and in about 100
yards turn right onto Mitchell. Take Mitchell uphill past South Kitsap High
School. Just past the school you'll see the cell tower on the east side of
the road, park opposite.

The nest covers much of the upper area of the cell tower and the birds are
quite active most of the time. Hopefully the cell company has learned to
live with the nest ball on their premises.

Happy birding.......
