Hi Tweeters,
We had a large flock of small birds in our yard today. It was difficult to tell the size exactly but they were a bit larger than a chickadee. I could not positively id them because they moved so quickly and were silhouetted against the sky. They looked like Pine Siskins but I was not sure. They swarmed like bees, had pointed bills and white streaked underparts. The tails were forked. I could not see the wings clearly to tell if there were bars or yellow on the birds. They were feeding on alder cones and hanging everywhich way on branches. There were between 75 and 100 birds but I could not count them either. Can anyone help me id them?

Usually Siskins come to our feeders but these birds did not.
