Hello All,
Well this weekend brought into focus the fact that many species are filtering out of the mountains and ending up in the dry desert areas of Southeastern Washington.
Thurs PM............mountain Chickadee in our yard in College Place.
Sat. AM...............2 Stellers Jays at Rooks Park as well as 3 Red-breasted Nuthatches.
Sun. PM...............5 Red-breasted Nuthatches and 1 White-breasted Nuthatch at Hood Park. The White-breasted is a first for this location. 5 years ago Andy Stepniewski located one at McNary NWR, HQ in Burbank, Walla Walla Co. also this morning we located a Mountain Chickadee in Touchet. The reason for this movement into the desert Northwest is an unknown. Early snows here and there, volcanic activity on top of another building El Nino? Who knows?
Later Mike
