Hello All,

As Ruth Sullivan reported, I did see the Black-tailed Gull (my 6th attempt
also, Rolan) on the sandbar at the usual North Cove location between 11:45
a.m. and 12:40 p.m. The bird preened and flew short distances among the
gull flock allowing for excellent views of all field marks. At 12:45 p.m.
as David Hayden and I were watching, the bird took off to the west and then
banked to the north well over the bay. I was able to follow the gull in
flight and also as it set down on the water a hundred or so yards offshore
in the company of 4 Heermann's Gulls. About this time, Andy and Ellen
Stepniewski pulled up and we watched this distinctive gull in flight as it
circled lazily and alit on the water on several occasions. Eventually, the
bird was almost to the outer sandbar well offshore when we lost sight of it
at about 1:10 p.m.

FINALLY!!!

What a great bird! Thanks to everyone for continuing to report.
