Saturday night, Michael Fleming and I had great looks at 2 BOREAL OWLS and
heard a couple more in the Sunrise area at Mt. Rainier. For the protection
of the owls, I will not give out detailed information on the exact location,
but if you work the area carefully you should be able to find some owls. I
strongly believe that sightings of this kind should be public record,
accessible to everyone, yet am aware that this could disturb the owls. So,
please use common sense and don't torture the owls too much. Also note that
playing tapes in National Parks is not permitted.

Other sightings at Mt. Rainier:

American Dipper (Tipsoo Ponds at Chinook Pass)
Townsend's Solitaire (3, at tree line below Frozen Lake)
American Marten (below Frozen Lake)

On Sunday, Michael and I headed over to the coast. Here are the highlights:

Lapland Longspur (2, Damon Pt State Park, off beach just south of the
official parking area for the park)
Pectoral Sandpiper (2 at Oyehut WA in Ocean Shores, 5 at John's River WA)
Pacific Golden Plover (1 at Bottle Beach)
Baird's Sandpiper (1 at Bottle Beach)
Ruddy Turnstone (1 at Bottle Beach)
