Hey all,

Birded around Semiahmoo and Blaine this weekend with my girlfriend, some
interesting stuff. First stop was the Marine Park in Blaine, lots of
waterfowl and gulls, we arrived at high tide, no shorebirds present. N.
Pintail, Am. Wigeon, Mallard and Green-winged Teal in good numbers, the
teal and Wigeon were still mostly in their eclipse plumage, the pintails
had cleaned up a bit more. Ring-Billed, GW/Western Hybrids, and a couple
of Mew Gulls were present. Most notably was an adult EGYPTIAN GOOSE,
roosting on the north side of the bay near a creek inlet. I don't know if
this is a different escapee or the same bird that's been seen around the
sound, but cool nonetheless.

We checked out the boat launch and the end of the point after that, and
then headed out to Semiahmoo. Greylag Goose (escape, I assume), Spotted
Sandpiper, and the same ducks at the boat launch and jetty. At the end of
the pier, Horned Grebes, Pacific Loons, Surf and White-winged Scoter were
all present in good numbers, and a handful of Common Terns were hanging
around the log booms at Semiahmoo. Beautiful weather, I'm going to aim
for low tide and head back.

Good Birding!
