Martyn Stewart asked that I pass along this message regarding the
grouse he had in his Redmond yard [see his 10/1 posting]. After
posting pictures and sound clips online [see:
http://www.naturesound.org/what_bird.htm ], he received feedback and
wanted to share the latest judgements.

Michael A. Schroeder, a research biologist with the Washington
Department of Fish and Wildlife, with more than 20 years of
experience working with grouse, confirmed that the photographs and
vocalization were of a female Spruce Grouse.
