This is the Vancouver Natural History Society's Rare Bird Alert for
Saturday, October 9th, sponsored in part by Wild Birds Unlimited, with
stores in Vancouver and North Vancouver.

Sightings for Saturday, October 9th

RARE BIRD ALERT! A NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was found in front of 314 West 25th
Avenue near Lonsdale in North Vancouver. The bird was seen in a shrub eating
berries.

At MacDonald Beach on Sea Island an immature NORTHERN GOSHAWK was reported.

The following birds were reported from the Reifel Refuge:
2 MOUNTAIN CHICKADEES, 1 SWAMP SPARROW, 10 BARN SWALLOWS, 1 YELLOW WARBLER
and 1 NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL.

On the foreshore off 104th Street in Boundary Bay a late SEMIPALMATED PLOVER
was present with a flock of 20 LEAST SANDPIPERS. Nearby at the pilings near
96th Street 1 MARBLED GODWIT, 2 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS and 8 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS
were reported. Also here was a flock of 4 BARN SWALLOWS.
