On 10/8 I observed an unusual 2nd year gull at Sun Lakes State Park. Photos
were taken and reviewed by several gull experts and it was determined that
the bird was a Lesser Black-backed Gull molting into second winter plumage.
I just received the confirmation of LBBG.
I was unable to return today due to personal commitments, but small trout
have been planted in the lake and it is likely that the bird remains.
It was initially seen and photographed at the south-east end of the park
near the primitive boat launch and swim area.
