Hello all:
Birded some areas near South Prairie today. The Solitary Sand unfortunately
was not present - it must have taken off during the night or early this
morning. However, next to the pond in a riparian/alder area, I happened to
call up a Northern Pygmy-Owl. It's possible these birds are invading the
lowlands along with the other, more readily seen mountain species which have
been reported lately.
Also along the Foothills Trail, along with a huge number of kinglets,
chickadees, and Hutton's Vireos, was a late Black-throated Gray Warbler, and
also late Yellow Warbler.
Cheers
