If you start now you might get permission from Rainier Evergreen in time for
next spring's birding season. I bought property in the Tahuya area from a
private citizen but the land was adjacent to some small property owned by
Rainier. Five months later, easements and surveys,etc., I was finally able
to close on my house and property. I personally did not have contact with
their representative but from contact with my realtor I got the impression
that Rainier did things in their own way on their own time schedule. Good

P.S. I haven't seen my mountain quail in a couple weeks and by no means
have they been regular in their visits since mid-summer. When they become
more regular I will again post on Tweeters so birders can come visit....

P. P. S. Barred owls have been hooting up a storm out here the last week or
so. An adjacent property owner cleared underbrush nearby and at least one
owl has taken up residence there. Another can often be heard down along the
Tahuya River below me. It's wonderful waking up in the middle of the night
to hear them calling. Wherever the one up here is it is close enough to
hear me slide open the window a bit more to hear it better. After a brief
pause it will begin calling again.
Last night the coyotes were singing an eerie chorus around 9pm adding the
amazing night sounds out here in the country.
