In defense of Ian, there's really no reason to be intimidated by a simple
correction. His posts are nothing but amiable, and it looks to me like he
was simply trying to help clear up a common error, for your sake and others.

There's no reason not to post, just because you're afraid you might misspell
or mistype a word. Similarly, Ian and the rest of us shouldn't feel like we
should avoid correcting people when the situation warrants. It would be one
thing to pick on somebody's grammar, but trying to get the facts straight on
the birds is something that should be encouraged, not discouraged.
