Wind direction: NNW
Prevailing wind speed: 12-19 km/h gusting to: 20-28 km/h
Percentage of sky covered by clouds: 0%

The following birds were seen by Wayne Weber at and near Point No
Point, Kitsap County, WA on October 12, 2004 between about 1:00 and
4:15 PM.

The weather was sunny and mild, but there was a brisk wind from the
NNW, about 15 km/hr at my arrival, rising to 20-25 km/hr by the time
I left, eventually raising whitecaps on Puget Sound.

The highlight was at least 4 PARASITIC JAEGERS, which intermittently
harassed some of the numerous BONAPARTE'S GULLS. However, numbers of
alcids were low, only a single COMMON TERN was seen, and loons and
Brandt's Cormorants were conspicuous by their absence or
near-absence.

I could not find any of the PALM WARBLERS which had been seen at
Point No Point in the previous few days, but songbird activity was
low because of the persistent winds and the time of day, and a Palm
Warbler could easily have been present but overlooked.

At least 3 HARBOR SEALS were seen in offshore waters, and 3 DOUGLAS
SQUIRRELS were heard along the forest trail just south of the point.
