Hello All,
We spent most of the day out on the Walla Walla River delta performing a shorebird survey and enjoying the last truely warm Indian Summer day this season ( 72 degrees and no wind).

In the morning the Washington State Waterfowl Hunting Season opens up and runs for 107 days, along with our first Alaska tossed storm of the season ( sounds so warm)! Please consider this long hunting season when planning birding trips into Southeastern Washington wetlands as weekends will be no fun for birders or waterfowl, week days are a much better bet for seeing birds.

Birds of note are as follows:

WALLA WALLA RIVER delta

Tundra Swan..........4 adults....very early arrival for this area
Western Grebe.......109 birds..largest number to date
Sanderling..............1 bird
Dunlin.....................3 birds
Long-billed Dowitchers......144 birds
Pectoral Sandpiper.....2 birds
Osprey......................1 adult

HOOD PARK

Mountain Chickadee.....2 adults
Red-breasted Nuthatch..5 birds
Osprey.........................1 adult
Orange-crowned Warbler..2 birds

Note : The sixth Walla Walla area Blue Jay was reported today.

That be it.
Later Mike
