Hello Tweets,
Well, the pine siskins have returned in force. I think they leave the area when the Black Headed Grosbeaks take over because they seem to be the only bird other than Steller's Jays that can intimidate them at the feeder.

Our feeder birds now are:
Oregon Junco
Spotted Tohee
Song Sparrow
Chestnut Backed Chickadee
Black Capped Chickadee
Red Breasted Nuthatch
Steller's Jay
Pine Siskin
House Finch

The highlight of our weekend though was we actually saw the Great Horned Owl in our yard perched in a snag. We watched him for a while and he saw us then silently flew away. What a magnificent bird. It is my first sighting of this bird here. We have been hearing one off and on for years.

Hi tweeters,

today in my yard in Edmonds I had two Stellars Jays, a flicker, black capped and 1 chestnut back chickadees, house sparrows and of course the usual crows, chipmunks and rabbits.
I am on the look out for a mountain chickadee but none so far.
