Yesterday in the field just west of the ponds at Hoquiam airport, there were
just 8 "cackling" geese in a group among many more Canadas-- at just half the
size of the others, they were quite outstanding miniatures as they moved
forward through their indifferent brethren.

Spent 3 hours Friday (15th) at North Cove (other Oregon birders there,too)
but no sign of the Black-tailed Gull. Wonder if it will spend the winter -
(does it really have any other appointments?) Oh, boy , swans in in a few
