Subject: [Tweeters] Black-tailed Gull at N. Cove today (10/18)

I had the pleasure of spotting the BT Gull at North Cove today. Rick
Hudson & I then observed it from 10:30 to 11:20 AM. High tide was
predicted for approx 2 PM, so this observation was on the incoming tide, as
noted 10/16 by Charlie Wright. We had great and generally unobstructed
views, and I was able to note that the tail-band seemed to have cleaner
edges and that the hood had indeed gotten darker, esp. on the back of the
head, with the top of the head remaining (I thought) about the same medium
smooth gray as in mid-August. The wind was 10 to 15 mph and there was no
rain during our very lucky period of observation.

Thanks again to Charlie for finding this bird in the first place, more than
2 months ago, and for the timely post regarding the latest of many
sightings by many many others.
