Subject: [Tweeters] Humpback Whales and Gull Movement off Clover Point

Howdy,

At about 4:30 p.m. today I was treated to the sight of 3 humpback whales
cavorting southwest of Clover Point BC. I gather there have been several
hanging out around Race Rocks, but I had never seen this species before in
the Victoria area.

There were also hundreds, perhaps thousands of gulls moving eastward. The
majority were Glacuous-wings and Mews, but it looks like the action is
heating up.

There should be some big alcid movements soon, but you might need a scope to
id them.

I just updated the Vancouver Island Birding News page, adding a few more
photos and updating some text. Enjoy!
